An enthusiastic character that started her insurance career with the Nationwide Insurance brokers in Sierra Leone in 1987. She later on decided to integrate into the Milton Margai college of Education and Technology where she studied French and English Language.
She went to Guinea in 1997, and with her pre knowledge in French and insurance; she was employed by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) where she served as a teacher and then Vice Principal of the school. She was promoted to Field Officer, Tracing & Reunification of Separated & Unaccompanied Children for the Forecariah region in 2000
Late in 2000, the post of Administrative Officer was advertised for the Forecariah region by the International Rescue Committee (IRC). She applied, and among dozens of internal and external candidates that applied, she made an outstanding performance and was offered the post.
She was later promoted to the post of Senior Administrative Officer for the IRC Conakry office and then later to Administrative Manager of the N’zerekore field office where she was given the responsibilities of managing administrative issues as well as the insurance needs of the organization including property and staff. She was then made head of the sub office.In N’zerekore, she introduced a welfare committee referred to as the Staff Welfare Committee which was geared towards responding to staff personal issues such as, weddings, funerals, child naming ceremonies, as top management did not pay much attention to some of these pertinent staff issues.She also served in the IRC Mann office as a Field Coordinator, an international position.
Mrs. Binty Kamara has attended trainings in Kenya-Ambosele National Park on Administration and also Security, Monitoring and Evaluation trainings in Istanbul, Turkey. Binty holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Fourah Bay College, the University of Sierra Leone.
